Ashlawn Update 17-2-15

Report & pictures by Phil

A clear night followed by a white frost and a sunny day.  Breeze was a bit chilly but in very sheltered places temperature was briefly up to nearly 17C.  This coaxed a Small Tortoiseshell to show on Tennis Meadow though there is little in the way of nectar yet.

Nearby Steve Boswell was nearing the end of laying Jolly’s hedge, perhaps just one more day.

Pytchley Marsh looked good after the recent clearance of willow regrowth and a deer the far side stood still waiting for my next move.

Catkins were looking splendid.
